The second phase of India’s Budget Session resumed on Monday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the Lok Sabha on the ongoing West Asia crisis. He stated that the Centre is actively working on measures to reduce the economic and strategic impact of the situation.
During the session, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The Lok Sabha approved a proposal to send the bill to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for further review. The proposed legislation aims to modify provisions under the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008, and the Companies Act, 2013.
The Finance Bill, 2026—detailing the government’s financial roadmap for the upcoming fiscal year—is also expected to be taken up for discussion. Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha is deliberating on the Appropriation No. 2 Bill, 2026.
The session resumed after a short break due to Ugadi and Eid celebrations, with additional sittings planned later in the week to make up for lost time.
